Business Simulation

Case Study

Early stage startup

The business simulation allows the students to build an entrepreneurial firm, experiment with strategies, and compete with other students in a virtual business world. The simulation is designed to mimic every step of launching a new business and a new product, and allows the students to experience in market analysis, strategy formulation, and the management of a new venture.

Our students learn better from examples than from traditional academic settings that follows a logical development of events starting with basic principles and so on. The use of case studies can therefore be a very effective classroom technique. The Case Study Analysis assignment require students to develop a solution to an open-ended problem with multiple potential solutions.

Since 2013, CEO students have received a total of $35,000 in startup funding. And, the investment is paying off. Several Sangamon CEO graduates still operate their class businesses in the community or surrounding area.

Stock market competition

class/community events

In Toastmasters students learn public speaking and leadership skills. They become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders.

Sponsored and led by Sarah Petty, Entrepreneur, NY Times Best Seller and Photographer, the students participate in eight annual Toastmasters sessions.

In an effort to bring real-world investing experience into our classroom, we have partnered with Stifel Financial (Stifel Financial Advisor)  to deliver a stock market challenge that would engage and immerse students in financial realities. The challenge help the students in understanding the principles of investment.

Sangamon CEO participates in numerous class- and community-sponsored events throughout the year, ranging from CEO vs Sharks to a trade show to networking events for incoming and past students.

The opportunities that CEO has provided me with has been astounding. I have not only gotten to know 49 other kids from my class, but many different business owners, investors, mentors, and speakers.

Class of 2018
[CEO vs Sharks] was an event that kind of broke me out of my shell. I had been kind of nervous and shy and not very good at public speaking, but being able to go up on stage and accomplish so much was great.

Class of 2016
I had no idea this class could change my perspective and well being to the extent it has, and yet it is one of the best decisions I could have made as a student in high school.
